Estafeta will invest MXP$60 million in vehicles fleet

Mexico City,- Estafeta Mexicana announced a MXP$60 million (almost US$5 million) investment to purchase 207 new vehicles. These resources are part of the US$13 million Estafeta will spend in 2010 renewing and expanding their vehicles fleet. This courier service company informed that with these resources they will purchase 107 Mercedes Benz, Freightliner and Volkswagen vans and 100 Honda motorcycles; 207 units, of which 60% will be to replace older units and 40% will cover growth demand in cities such as Monterrey, Mexico, Guadalajara, Veracruz, Puebla and Hermosillo. Ricardo Becerril, Chief Operations Officer, said that the investment is meant to increase cargo capacity and renew part of their fleet, to continue providing optimum delivery services.

Boeing interested in Mexico

Mexico City,- Economic rebound which may be observed all over the world could have a positive impact in airlines profitability in 2011, which would mean an increase in airplanes sales a year later, Drew Magill, Regional Marketing Director, pointed-out. Airlines in Latin America will require one thousand 640 airplanes, for a value of US$150 billion, within the next 20 years, according to Boeing's estimates. When asked about the Mexican market, Mr. Magill said that this is the second largest in the aeronautics field, together with Brazil. Boeing's optimism is shared by International Air Transport Association, which a few days ago spoke about the positive financial results air industry had in 2009, by having profits for US$800 million.

A thousand jobs have been generated in Ramos

Coahuila, Mexico,- One thousand new jobs already created and one thousand more jobs. confirmed with the new investment to be made by Grupo DeAcero is the balance in jobs created during the first 100 days of Ramon Oceguera's Adminsitration as City Mayor, and a thousand more jobs could be added by companies being expanded or which will be soon installed here. Interviewed after the execution of a collaboration agreement with UVM Campus Saltillo, Mayor Oceguera informed that "one thousand jobs have been created and are already operating in different industries, as well as in commerce, but in addition three or four more plants are being built and when they start working there will be around a thousand more jobs". Regarding DeAcero's new plant he said that "this is a very significant achievement; negotiations were headed by Governor Humberto Moreira himself, reaching agreements to confirm the investment; construction will start soon and this will greatly benefit people in Ramos Arizpe".

DGI investing US$10 million

Saltillo, Coahuila,- Detroit Global Industries de Mexico announced a new investment for US$10 million and the generation of 150 direct jobs in their Ramos Arizpe Plant. The areas to be expanded include machining, molds and spindles repair. This investment is in addition to the one announced last Tuesday to be made in their alliance with Thread-Craft. DGI currently generates 34 jobs and are now recruiting 15 people more; however, the company's plans also consider an expansion in the machining area, to which purpose they will require more space and equipment. David Michel, Plant General Director, announced last Tuesday an association with Thread-Craft for an expansion of 13,411 square meters (a little over 144,300 square feet), with a US$1.2 million investment and the generation of 30 jobs in 18 months.

New maquiladora operating

Chihuahua, Chihuahua,- Executives from the Canadian company Arnprior Aerospace Inc. and local authorities broke ground yesterday for the construction of the company's plant in Mexico, with an investment of 3 million Dollars in South Industrial Park in Chihuahua. At the beginning, the company will generate 136 direct jobs to produce several components and subassemblies for their plant in Canada, where the product will be finished and shipped to several parts of the world. This is the second operation from the aerospace sector announced for Chihuahua in the last two days; the first was the inauguration of a new Honeywell plant. Also, the arrival of Kaman Aerospace Corporation will be officially announced next Friday. The cornerstone ceremony for Arnprior Aerospace's new building was headed by John Wilbur, President and CEO, as well as by Tom J. Melvin, General Director, Martha Lara, Minister of Industrial Development and Luis Lara, American Industries' President and Arturo Avila, Chairman of AMEAC Maquiladoras Association.

Aeronautics industry in Chihuahua

Chihuahua, Chih.- Honeywell, Arn Prior Aerospace, Kaman Eurospace Corporation and Hawker Beechcraft, all of them companies in the aerospace sector, will either inaugurate or start the construction of new buildings this and next week, with an average investment of US$300 million and the generation of around 800 direct jobs of high value added, Martha Lara Alatorre, Minister of Industrial Development, announced yesterday. Governor Jose Reyes Baeza headed the inauguration ceremony of two new buildings occupied by Honeywell Aerospace in Chihuahua City, which will allow adapting a 27 thousand 870.91 square meters building to manufacture turbine pieces and other special components. To this purpose, Honeywell announced the creation of 250 new jobs of high value added, but asked the amount of the investment were not disclosed, Ms. Lara Alatorre informed.

Transnationals interested in Mexico

Saltillo, Coahuila,- In the post-crisis world, six emerging economies, including Mexico, in addition to Brazil, Russia, India and China (the so-called BRIC Group), and South Korea, stand out for being on the right track for growth, Accenture Consultants Firm says. As far as Mexico is concerned, Direct Foreign Investment indicators show a year-to-year 36% drop, according to figures from the Foreign Investments Commission in the Ministry of the Economy. However, we remain as an attractive market for foreign companies; and these are but five examples of new investments announced for this year: Estafeta, Nestlé, Wal-Mart, Braskem (the Brazilian petrochemical company) and the Spaniard company Renovalia Energy.
