Foreign companies invest 670 million dollars in Chihuahua in 1 year

Chihuahua, Chihuahua- An investment for US$670 million and the generation of over 13,000 new jobs were materialized in the State of Chihuahua between October last year and this October, the Head of Industry Bureau in the Ministry of the Economy, Miguel Angel Calderon Salinas, informed yesterday. Ciudad Juarez remains as the main pole attracting industrial projects at the state with 21 companies, followed by Chihuahua City with 18, Aldama, Delicias and Cuauhtemoc reported 2 each, while Ojinaga, Matachi and Nuevo Casas Grandes received one new company each. The companies that invested in Chihuahua in the above mentioned term are Hawker Beechcraft, Kamman Aerospace, Bloom Energy, Arnprior, Victaulic, Fokker, Zodiac Webber, Atlas Group, FR-Tecnologías de Flujo, Big Cola, Cav Ice Protection, Metal Finishing Co., Be Aerospace, Souriau, DTR and Gemini Plastic. The companies that invested in Ciudad Juarez were Electrolux, Plexus, Delphi, Cardinal Health, Affinia, Automotive Lighting, BRP, Visteon, RR Donelley, MSI, Aligntech, Via Systems, Border Pride, Swo Copin, Legget and Platt, Edumex, ZF Electronix, Peiker Acustics, Ricardo & Barbosa and World Client Service.

Mexico is best to invest

Hermosillo, Mexico.- Mexico has lower investment risk than China, Chile or Germany, to mention but a few countries with a lower ranking, Guillermo Padres Elias, Sonora Governor, affirmed before around 130 executives from international firms. In his conference "Making Business in Mexico" in Toronto Forum for Global Cities, Governor Padres spoke about the advantages of investing in Mexico, which credit risk, according to a report from the World Economic Forum, is 66, being 100 the minimum risk and 0 the maximum risk. "Mexico has an attractive business environment, legal certainty, the largest network in the world of free trade agreements and industry development for a competitive cost", he affirmed. Padres Elias pointed-out that it is easy for maquiladora or manufacturing industry to make business here, since firms such as AT Kerney, Alix Partners and Boston Consulting Group consider Mexico a better place for investment than China, India or Brazil.

Eurocopter will open a new plant in Mexico

Queretaro, Queretaro.- The French-German-Spaniard company Eurocopter will invest US$150 million in the construction of a new plant to manufacture aeronautic components in Queretaro, Dieter John, Executive Vice-president, announced. In a press conference, Mr. John said that due to the impulse given to and development achieved by activities carried out in such facilities, investments will add to US$550 million in the next five years. "These works will expand Eurocopter's world industrial network, supported on technological transference to foster the development of high level abilities in the region", he said.

Aerospace companies will invest in Chihuahua

Chihuahua, Chihuahua.- The French Group Safran from the aerospace sector, through their subsidiary Labinal, is planning to create 500 new jobs, which will be added to the more than 2,500 jobs they already have in Chihuahua, following their continuous growth policy. This announcement was officially made during the meeting that top executives of the French company held with Governor Cesar Duarte Jaquez. Chihuahua's Minister of the Economy, Alberto Chretin Castillo, pointed-out that Labinal manufactures all the electric systems for Airbus, in a Design Center with more than 130 engineers working in Chihuahua. "They also have plans to bring more business in airplane electric architecture design, which we are discussing with the company. They have plans to expand their operations with 500 new jobs in Chihuahua", Chretin Castillo said.

Companies that do not invest in Mexico will miss an opportunity: Slim

Mexico.- Any foreign company which does not invest in Mexico "is losing a great opportunity, and companies already in Mexico which do not invest will stay behind", the Mexican businessman and Chairman of Telmex, Carlos Slim, affirmed. There are many positive conditions in Mexico: democracy, freedom, healthy economy and many opportunities arising in Information Technologies, Mr. Slim said to Notimex. Slim, who is participating at Geneva in the Broadband Summit organized by the International Telecommunications Union, said that the telecommunications world "offers a great alternative" for jobs creation, especially for young people. It also generates "important investments that create economic activity", which may be observed throughout the world and not only in Mexico, and "which are important to modernize countries".

Jalisco will Foster new industrial cluster

Guadalajara, Jalisco.- The first program to foster a fashion cluster in Mexico will have the State of Jalisco as spearhead, the Ministry of Economic Promotion, Alfonso Ulloa Velez, informed. The program will have characteristics similar to the cluster currently available for software development (Prosoft) and will be named Promoda (Profashion), being its purpose to transform and reconvert traditional clothing industry. The goal of this new program, which will be supported with federal resources, is helping companies in the sector to achieve competitiveness in order to "aggressively fight in the world, not only with labor, but also with quality, design and structured work", Mr. Ulloa added during the presentation of this scheme.

Chassis manufacturers interested in invention by Juarez's engineer

Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.- Bombardier, one of the most important companies in the world in high technology applied to military market, may be among the companies interested in a multi-directional chassis invented and patented in this border city 15 years ago by Francisco Javier Lares, an engineer from Ciudad Juarez. Lares has made several modifications to the chassis to adapt it to different applications, since there is also interest by manufacturers of ATV's. This chassis which goes up and down and raises one tire to run on three wheels in case of a flat tire, is capable of climbing mountains, run on sand and thick mud thanks to its reduction and expansion system to crawl as a caterpillar based on auto-distance differential system, and may also run on a highway at high speed thanks to its aerodynamic ground rolling. In addition it meets military requirements to save lives: mobility on any terrain. Harley-Davidson, the motorcycles manufacturer, could also be interested in the invention.
